All about Gary........
Gary is a native Californian! Born in Southern California he lived in Bell all of his young life. He attended Cal State Los Angeles majoring in accounting. He joined the Army in 1966 and spent his tour of duty at Ft. Ord, near Montery.
Gary was raised in a Christian home with parents who attended church and a brother who was called to be a minister at a very young age. He accepted Christ as his personal saviour at age 10 and has always been very true to his faith.
His life continued with a 30+ year marriage and the birth of two daughters who are very precious to him. They have now presented him with four grandchildren.
Gary lived in the Sacramento area for about 20 years, following his parents example of raising the children in church. He was very active in their church. Gary was a Deacon and the Director of Finance.
At the time his marriage ended he was employed by the Fairfield-Suisun School district as Director of Accounting. He moved from Sacramento to Fairfield at that time to live closer to his work.
After attending several churches in the Fairfield area, he walked into the 1st Christian Church that Betty was attending and knew immediately that this was where God wanted him to be. He was a deacon at the church and then became the Treasure for several years.
He is now retired and free to travel with Betty to where ever God sends them to share their love of God through His music. It is such a blessing to see how the people respond to the Gospel Hymns when Betty starts singing. To see them singing along, raising their hands in praise or clapping them together in time to the music, bowing heads to pray and sometimes a tear falls down a cheek.
Gary can be found most any place with a camera in hand, taking advantage of each Kodak Moment. He has taken pictures that are so good, he should be selling them. His pictures can be found on the front and inside some of Betty's books!
The Overstreets are busier than they have ever been since retiring, and loving every minute!
They have attended Yountville Community Church during the last five years where Gary was a Deacon and also busy as sound tech on Sunday mornings for the Worship team.
They have recently moved to Vacaville and are searching for the church God will lead them to.
Life just doesn't get any better than that!
